It’s usually not one thing on its own, but rather how everything comes together.
The architecture, the layout, the materials.
And most importantly, how they feel in that space.
That is the art of design, because the way the space is experienced is intentional.
When it’s done well, you feel it immediately. And when something is missing, you feel that too.
Artwork by Megan Gonyo.
A lot of people think about art at the end, once everything else is in place. But the spaces that actually feel complete include all parts of the build during the design phase.
That’s where art shifts from being something that fills a blank wall to something that anchors the room and tells a story, gives the space energy, and brings the experience to life.
The right piece can drastically change a space — It gives it weight. It makes it yours. And it’s the thing people notice without always knowing why.
If you’re planning a space, I work with collectors, designers, and developers to place pieces that feel like they were meant to be there from the start.
